Food & Agriculture Show
About
Food is more than sustenance—it's a powerful expression of culture, community, and identity. In NW Ohio, agriculture plays a vital role in shaping that story. From the rich soil that nurtures our crops, to the processing, to the tables where we gather and share meals, every step of the journey is steeped in tradition and meaning. This region’s deep agricultural roots offer fertile ground for artistic exploration. Whether through the rolling farmlands, rustic barns, tools and machines, vibrant produce, or scenes of daily life around the table, artists are invited to capture the spirit of NW Ohio’s food heritage. Reflect on the quiet strength of the farmer, the beauty of a harvest, or the shared joy of dining out—all are a thread in the tapestry of our cultural identity.
Judge’s Statement
This was a really fun show to curate because of the agricultural theme. It feels authentic and home grown from this area and I appreciate all the local talent which celebrates this part of our great State! A sense of fun and love of nature and her bounty is abundant in the whole show – whether an angry fowl, hands caressing basil or light spilling across fields – the art works resonate with a shared awareness of the gifts we enjoy in farm country. Whether through painting, drawing, photography or 3D representation, the artists were able to bring an intimate and grateful sense to our relationship with the land and the food which sustains us. Thank goodness we have artists in our midst who can capture this rich way of life. Tamara Monk, BGSU Adjunct professor and artist.
