This is our annual Photo Show. We welcome regional photographers as well as locals. Thank you to FASTSIGNS for sponsoring the Best of Show Award.

Juror’s Show Statement

It is an honor to recognize the talent and creativity of community photographers. Jurying is a challenging task. As a photography professor, it is my role to analyze images technically, conceptually, and aesthetically, while also guiding students on how to strengthen their work.

In my evaluation process, I consider image quality, composition, use of light, mood, color palette, concept or message, and the overall “wow” factor. I bring my education, years of experience, and expertise to this process—as well as my personal point of view.

Entering an art show is an act of vulnerability and bravery. Artists share creative expressions that often hold deep personal meaning, opening themselves to the scrutiny of others. With that comes the possibility of both elation and disappointment. I hope that any disappointment does not discourage you. Continue to pursue your artistic passion—share your work, take risks, embrace failure, and keep learning and growing.

Despite the flattening effect of silhouetting the two figures, the image retains layered depth. The texture on the water is echoed in the subtly visible texture of the dark foreground. It conveys a peaceful moment between the fishermen.”
